HISTORY:
Oregon State played both San Francisco and San Diego in back-to-back games last season, defeating the Dons, 2-0, in Corvallis before taking out the Toreros, 3-1, in San Diego mere days later. Carly Carraher recorded the first brace of her career against USD, scoring off a feed from Paola Figueroa in the 20th minute before doubling the lead in the 70th minute; Rin Choi had an assist on the team's third goal as Mya Sanchez made a combined eight saves across both games.
ADJUSTMENTS:
Sunday's match against Portland was a tale of two halves. After the Pilots took an early lead, Oregon State out-shot UP, 6-4, in the second half, creating several big chances that nearly resulted in goals. Alyssa White hit the crossbar from range in the 71st minute before Nathalie Lewis forced a diving save with an acrobatic, over-the-head flick in the 75th minute and Avery Pleiman redirected a ball off her chest in the 88th minute that also forced a save.
SUPER SANCHEZ:
Mya Sanchez has been tremendous as a senior in 2025 and enters this week's games with a West Coast Conference leading 56 saves. After starting the year strong, the Turlock, Calif., native has been fantastic in the Beavers' latest stretch of games, finishing with at least five saves in five of her last six appearances, which included a pair of eight save performances against South Dakota State (Sept. 7) and Fresno State (Sept. 20).
BIG ROLE:
Avery Pleiman has played a big role off the Oregon State bench as a true freshman, appearing in 10 games and playing 283 minutes. Originally from Independence, Ky., Pleiman tied a season-high mark for minutes played against Portland, spending 48 minutes on the pitch and nearly finding the back of the next. In her last matchup at LMU, Pleiman was credited with the assist on a game-tying goal and now put each of her three shots on target in 2025.
BALANCE:
Oregon State's offense in 2025 has been fueled by balance, with 10 student-athletes tallying at least a point, and the team-high mark for points (four) is shared by four players: Carly Carraher (one goal, two assists), Nathalie Lewis (two goals) and Adele Schwab (one goal, two assists). Led by Lewis' 21 shots, there are six total Beavers with 10-plus shots, as Carraher (14), White (13), Schwab (11), Rin Choi (10) and Paola Figueroa (10) have all played big roles in the OSU attack.
ON GOAL:
Not only does Lewis lead the team in shots, she also has put 61.9% of her total shots on target, which ties her for seventh among athletes in the WCC. She's joined by Emily Ibsen (100%), Pleiman (100%), Mia Erba (50%), Nathalie Mejia (50%) and Megin Turi (50%) as Beavers with at least half of their total shots going on frame, while the team has put 41.7% of its 108 total shots on target in 2025.
BEAVS IN THE PROS:
With Katie Godden (Charlton Athletic / England) and McKenna Martinez (Valadares Gaia / Portugal) each signing professional contracts after the conclusion of last season, Oregon State has officially sent six players into the professional ranks across the last four seasons. Led off by Laura Galceran and Bridgette Skiba in 2021, Reese Moffatt signed a deal in 2022 before Hailey Coll in 2023 and both Godden and Martinez in 2024.
In total, there are currently 10 former Beavers active in the professional ranks, playing in countries such as Portugal, Norway, Spain, England, Mexico and the United States; this list is highlighted by Bella Bixby (née Geist), who currently plays for the Portland Thorns of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), but also includes Kate Evans (West Brom), Emma Jones (Portsmouth) and Greta Espinoza (Tigres).
BACK THE PAC:
Oregon State will play its final season in the West Coast Conference this fall before returning to Pac-12 play in 2026. All eight of the conference's other members, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Texas State, Utah State and Washington State, sponsor women's soccer, each bringing a high level of talent to the conference. Utah State is the reigning Mountain West Tournament Champion, also winning the conference tournament in 2023, while Boise State was crowned regular season champion in 2024 after San Diego State was crowned regular season champions the year prior. Texas State is coming off a 12-win season that ended with a 3-2 loss in the Sun Belt Championship while Gonzaga was picked to finish third in the WCC.
