Oregon State Falls in Closely Contested Home Game

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State women's soccer fell, 1-0, to the Portland Pilots at Paul Lorenz Field.
Mya Sanchez made five saves, making it four-consecutive games with five-plus saves, and five of her last six appearances. Natalie Lewis nearly found the back of the net with an acrobatic flick over her head that nearly found the net in the 75th minute while Avery Pleiman nearly chested a ball into the net in the 88th minute that was saved; Alyssa White hit the crossbar with a shot in the 71st minute.
Portland found a goal from near the midfield line less than 20 minutes into the contest but Oregon State rebounded with a strong second half, out-shooting the Pilots, 6-4, while baiting the Portland offense into six offside calls across 90 minutes played.
Beaver women's soccer returns to action with another road game on Wednesday, Oct. 8, before hosting San Diego next Sunday. Tickets can be purchased by calling 800-GO-BEAVS (541-737-4455) or visiting beav.es/SoccerTickets.
