September 19, 2024 | Women's Soccer
LARAMIE, Wyo. – Fueled by a pair of goals in the final six minutes of action, Oregon State women's soccer went on the road and defeated the Wyoming Cowgirls, 2-1, on Thursday.
McKenna Martinez scored a late, game-winning goal, finishing at the near post after the Cowgirl 'keeper came off her line in the 88th minute. Thursday's goal was Martinez's first in 2024 and the 29th in her career, giving the Richland, Wash., native sole possession of fourth place in the all-time OSU record book while bringing her within one point of a tie for fourth in total points.
Katie Godden was credited with an assist on the game-winner, her second in as many games.
The game-winning goal came just three minutes after Carly Carraher tied things up in the 85th. After a scramble in the box, it took just one touch - Carraher's left-footed shot - to find the back of the net, notching her first in 2024 and tying the game at one.

After conceding in the fourth minute, the OSU offense had a number of chances throughout the game. An Amaya Bautista header was saved off the line in the 23rd as both Martinez and Carraher had other opportunities come close to finding the net but nearly missed.
Oregon State's junior goalkeeper Mya Sanchez finished with six saves and a stopped 85.7 of the shots that came her way, increasing her season average to 72.4 with 42 total saves across eight starts in 2024.
