
OSU Ready for 2021 NCAA Wrestling Championships

THIS WEEK
• Oregon State will be represented by six wrestlers -- #27 Brandon Kaylor (125), #10 Devan Turner (133), #12 Grant Willits (141), #14 Hunter Willits (157), #25 Ryan Reyes (184), and #28 J.J. Dixon (197) -- at the 2021 NCAA Wrestling Championships this weekend.

• Thursday, March 18 - Second Round - Session 2A, 3 pm - Session 2B, 6 pm - ESPN2
• Friday, March 19 - Quarterfinals - Session 3, 8 am - ESPNU
• Friday, March 19 - Quarterfinals - Session 4, 12 pm - ESPNU
• Friday, March 19 - Semifinals - Session 5, 5 pm - ESPN or ESPN2
• Saturday, March 20 - Medal Round - Session 6, 8 am - ESPN2
• Saturday, March 20 - Finals - Session 7, 4 pm - ESPN
LAST TIME OUT
• Grant Willits (141) and Devan Turner (133) claimed individual titles at the 2021 Pac-12 Wrestling Championships on Feb. 28 after each wrestler went 2-0.
• The Beavers took second as a team with 123.0 points.
• Hunter Willits (157), Ryan Reyes (184), and J.J. Dixon (197) all went 1-1 to take runner-up in their respective weight classes at the Pac-12 Championships.
• Brandon Kaylor (125) finished in third at the conference championships with a 3-1 record.
HISTORICALLY AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
• Oregon State has had 12 individual champions at the NCAA's, the last in 1996.
• Devan Turner, Grant Willits, and Hunter Willits are three-time NCAA qualifiers. Turner and Grant qualified in 2019, 2020, and 2021. Hunter has qualified in 2018, 2019, and 2021.
• Turner and Grant each went 1-2 in 2019, while Hunter fell in both of his matches in 2019 and 2018.
• Brandon Kaylor, Ryan Reyes, and J.J. Dixon have all qualified for their first NCAA Championships this season.
RUNS IN THE FAMILY
• The Willits brothers, No. 12 Hunter and No. 14 Grant, finished the season first on the team with a 7-2 dual record.
• Grant (141) led the Beavers with a 9-2 overall record, while Hunter (157) posted a season record of 9-3 for the second-best on OSU.
• Both brothers went 3-0 in matches decided by major decision.Â
INDIVIDUAL POINT LEADERS
• No. 12 Hunter Willits posted a team-high 30 points this season in duals, followed by his brother No. 14 Grant Willits with 27, and No. 28 J.J. Dixon with 21.
MOVING WITH MOMENTUM
• Four Beavers head into the National Championships coming off a win.
• Grant enters round one on a six match win streak, while Turner has won his last three and Kaylor walked away with victories in his previous two matches.
• Hunter earned a win in his last match on Feb. 28.
IT IS DECIDED
• J.J. Dixon and Ryan Reyes each have six wins this season by decision, including Dixon being 6-0 in said matches.
LEADING THE WAY
