Beavers Ready for Senior Night

CORVALLIS – It's senior night in Corvallis this Friday evening for the Oregon State wrestling team as they prepare to host the Stanford Cardinal for a Pac-12 matchup inside of Gill Coliseum at 6 p.m.

Beavers in the Ranks
The Beavers enter Friday ranked as highly as No. 18 by InterMat and FloWrestling in the tournament rankings. TheOpenMat puts Oregon State at No. 19, while TrackWrestling moves the Beavers down a spot to No. 21 this week.

OSU continues to have one of the best pair of bookends in the country at 125 pounds and heavyweight. Ronnie Bresser (19-1) is a unanimous No. 3 at the 125 pound weight class, currently riding an 11-match win streak. His only loss of the season came in sudden victory to the current No. 1 Sabastian Rivera (Northwestern).

Heavyweight Amar Dhesi (6-1) continues to improve week in and week out having had a late start to the season. Dhesi is ranked highest by TheOpenMat this week maintaining his No. 3 ranking. Both TheOpenMat and FloWrestling place the Surrey, B.C. native at No. 4 this week, while TrackWrestling drops him to No. 8.

The Beavers gave the No. 12 Cyclones all they could handle inside of Gill Coliseum on Monday evening, but fell 23-14. Grant Willits (141) and Colt Doyle (174) pulled upsets over ranked opponents, while Bresser and Dhesi cruised to wins as well.

The Cardinal enter Friday holding a 7-3 overall record and a 1-1 record in the Pac-12. Stanford is riding a two-match loss streak after a Big Ten road trip at Purdue (L, 9-22) and Indiana (L, 7-30).

Stanford boasts a trio of ranked wrestlers this week according to InterMat: 125 – No. 20 Gabe Townsell; 149 – No. 15 Requir van der Merwe; 197 – No. 12 Nathan Traxler.
