February 23, 2018 | Wrestling
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State wrestling has been preparing all season for the right to wrestle at the NCAA Championships, and that all starts this weekend at the Pacific-12 Wrestling Championships inside Gill Coliseum on Sunday, Feb. 25.
Tickets to the championship event can be found here. Alternatively, you can watch all the action via the live broadcast on Pac-12 Networks and follow the live stats here. The first session begins at 10:30 a.m., with the championship session scheduled for 4 p.m.
The Beavers finished the dual season 6-6, including a 2-2 record in Pac-12 matches. Oregon State wrestled well at home this season maintaining a 4-1 record inside Gill Coliseum. Corey Griego and Amarveer Dhesi both made it through the conference schedule unscathed.
Oregon State has had plenty of recent success at the Pac-12 Wrestling Championships. The Beavers are winners of five out of the last six conference championship events. Griego was the champion at 197 pounds in 2017, the only Beaver on this year's team to capture an individual title last season.
The Beavers continue to be well represented in the individual rankings by a number of wrestling media outlets. Ronnie Bresser is ranked No. 11 by InterMat, a pair of No. 10 rankings from Amateur Wrestling News and WIN Magazine, and sits at No. 9 in TheOpenMat rankings.
197-pounder Corey Griego sits as high as No. 11 by InterMat, he is ranked No. 14 by TheOpenMat, No. 18 by Amateur Wrestling News and No. 19 by WIN Magazine. Heavyweight Amar Dhesi moved up to No. 6 by TheOpenMat, a pair of No. 7 rankings from InterMat and Amateur Wrestling News, and a No. 8 placing from WIN Magazine.
The Pac-12 released the final conference rankings on Wednesday; Griego and Dhesi claim top spots in their respective weight class. Bresser has the No. 2 spot in the 125 pound weight class.
On Thursday, the NCAA announced the qualifier allocations for the 2018 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
