Texas Woman's was last in action at Arizona State on Feb. 7, posting a 195.225, while this weekend's competition marks TWU's second time meeting up against DU, having previously competed in a tri meet at Arkansas on Jan. 20.
DUAL TRIS:
Oregon State is coming off a busy weekend that featured two meets in less than 72 hours. Friday night, OSU posted a 197.175 in a tri meet against UC Davis (194.350) and Alaska (191.825), before putting up another 197 on Monday, this time a 197.325 against Washington (195.700) and Alaska (190.775).
TALENT IS EVERYWHERE:
In OSU's most recent competition, which culminated in that 197.325 team score to claim victory, the depth of the Beaver squad showed up in a big way. For the first time in 2025, each of the four events were won by a different student-athlete, as Kaitlin Garcia (9.900, vault), Sage Thompson (9.925, bars), Jade Carey (9.900, beam) and Sophia Esposito (9.950, floor) all claimed event titles; through six meets in 2025, five different Oregon State gymnasts have won at least one event title, with four of them winning two or more.
WHAT A WEEKEND:
Sage Thompson had one of her best weekends as a collegiate gymnast, putting up four 9.900-plus scores six total routines. Competing on vault, bars and floor in both meets, the Lehi, Utah, native vaulted her way to 9.850 before earning a pair of 9.900s on Friday, then responded to a 9.775 vault with a season-high 9.925 on bars and another 9.900 floor score on Monday.
Thompson has competed in every meet so far this season and holds averages of 9.783 on vault, 9.842 on bars and 9.858 on floor.
VAN-DEMONIUM:
Savannah Miller was a key figure in both meets over the weekend, leading off every rotation she was part of. It started with a 9.875 on floor during Friday's meet against UC Davis and Alaska, before competing on two events on Monday, earning a 9.775 on bars and 9.900 on floor. The 9.900 floor score tied a career high and set a new season best, marking the eighth time in her career that Miller has scored a 9.900 on that apparatus.
NUMBER THREE:
The Beaver beam lineup enters Sunday's competition ranked third in the nation, boasting an average score of 49.330 per meet. Over the weekend, the group finished with a pair of 49.375s that saw several athletes come up with standout performances. Sydney Gonzales earned a season-high 9.925 on Friday right before Jade Carey was given a 9.975 for the third-consecutive meet, and on Monday the one-two punch of Lauren Letzsch (9.850) and Jennifer McMillan (9.875) set the stage for a Carey 9.900.
Bolstered by the return of Gonzales and Letzsch, Oregon State has steadily climbed the beam rankings this season, starting with a No. 10 spot after week one before steadily climbing into the top five, where it has remained each of the past three weeks.
WHAT SHE DOES:
The reigning Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, Sophia Esposito has been pivotal to that top-ranked beam team, leading it off in every single competition. After a 9.700 in the season opener, Esposito has rattled off five-consecutive 9.825-plus scores that include three-straight 9.875s.
Esposito has also been a key figure in the Beavers' seventh-ranked floor lineup, never scoring lower than a 9.850 while improving her score with every meet, which culminated in a season-high 9.950 on Monday that also tied a career high. Through five appearances on floor this season, Esposito is averaging a 9.880, which sits in the top-50 nationally.
SIX FOR SIX:
Six meets. Six all-around titles. Jade Carey, ladies and gentlemen.
The nation's leader on beam (9.960) and all-around (39.600), Carey's senior season has seen the two-time Olympian dominate as she anchors all four of the Oregon State lineups. She's been given a 9.950 or higher nine different times, which includes a trio of 9.975s, and has claimed 21 of a possible 30 event titles in 2025.
9.90:
The successful senior campaign for Kaitlin Garcia continued on Monday, as the San Diego, Calif., native earned a pair of 9.900s for the OSU vault and floor lineups. Appearing on both apparatuses in all six meets this season, Garcia set a new career high on floor with a 9.950 against San Jose State on Jan. 17, while the vault score on Monday marked a new career high.
Garcia enters Sunday's meet averaging a 9.854 for the Beavers' highly ranked floor lineup, posting a 9.900 or higher in three of her last four routines while only having one score dip below a 9.850.
CREATING THEIR OWN MOMENTUM:
With six transition periods across two meets over the weekend, OSU improved its rotation score five times while never decreasing. On Friday, the vault squad started the meet off with a 49.100 before a 49.150 on bars, 49.375 on beam and 49.550 on floor; the lone detractor came on Monday when both bars and beam tallied a 49.325 in consecutive rotations, which came after a 49.125 on vault and before another 49.550 on floor.
FOUR IN A ROW:
In both of OSU's meets, the floor lineup rattled off four-consecutive 9.900 scores. Against UC Davis and Alaska, it started with Thompson's 9.900 before Esposito (9.900) and Garcia (9.925) setup a Carey 9.950. Less than 72 hours later, Thompson once again ignited the run with another 9.900 before Esposito's career high-tying 9.950 and a pair of 9.900s from Garcia and Carey.
Including Miller's career high-tying 9.900, Oregon State counted five 9.900 or higher scores on Monday after counting four on Friday.
