Velling's Three TDs Help Beavers Drop California

The Beavers (5-1, 2-1 Pac-12) posted at least 200 yards through the air for the fourth time this season as DJ Uiagalelei (275) and Aidan Chiles (21) combined for 296 against the Golden Bears' secondary. Uiagalelei tossed a season-best five scores to four different targets for the result.
Velling hauled in four catches for 38 yards, including his three touchdowns, while Anthony Gould totaled 117 reception yards off seven catches. Silas Bolden, Jesiah Irish and Isaac Hodgins each caught a score. Hodgins' score marked the second Beaver lineman to haul in an offensive touchdown this season.
Damien Martinez led the rushing attack with 89 yards on 17 carries and a touchdown. Deshaun Fenwick followed with 76 yards on 15 rushes.
Defensively, Kitan Oladipo led the squad with 11.0 tackles, 5.0 solo stops, a tackle for loss and a pass breakup. Jermod McCoy had forced a turnover with his first-ever interception.
The sides nearly traded scores in the first half, which included two of Velling's three touchdowns from Uiagalelei. Cal's lone lead came at 17-14 midway through the second quarter before Velling's second score put Oregon State back up for good at 21-17. The Beavers stretched their advantage to as many as 21 at 35-24 before a final Golden Bear touchdown brought it down to 12.
The win marked the 10th straight win for the Beavers when they score 40 points or more.
Oregon State will return to Reser Stadium next Saturday, October 14th, for homecoming. Kickoff against the Bruins is set for 5 p.m. and will be shown to a national audience on FOX.
