Wingeleth Set to Compete at NCAA Track & Field Championships
June 05, 2019 | Women's Track & Field
CORVALLIS – Oregon State track and field jump specialist Ann Wingeleth is slated to compete in her first NCAA Track & Field Championships this Saturday in Austin, Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
A redshirt junior from Lyman, Wyo., Wingeleth is just the fourth student-athlete from Oregon State to qualify for the NCAA Championships since the program's revival back in 2005. She joins Laura Carlyle (2011, 2012), Kara Hallock (2017) and Destiny Dawson (2018) as the only Beavers to qualify for the championship event in the past 15 seasons.
Wingeleth joins elite company in Linda Peterman Winter (3rd, 1971), Shirley Lagestee (4th, 1972, 6th, 1973) and Joni Huntley (1st, 1975) as the only Beavers to ever compete in the high jump on collegiate track and field's biggest stage.
In order to qualify through the regional preliminary rounds to the championship Wingeleth needed to finish inside of the top 12 out of a field of 48 competitors. Seeded 39th entering the Sacramento regional, Wingeleth finished in an impressive 10th place at 5-feet, 8.75-inches tying a personal best, and qualifying through to Austin.
Wingeleth currently holds the No. 8 all-time mark in Beavers' track and field history in the long jump at 5-feet, 8.75-inches. She has three times this season cleared 5-feet, 6.5-iches this season with two of those coming in the month of May.
At the NCAA Championships, competitors are awarded First Team All-American honors for placing 1st-8th, while those placing 9th-16th are designated as Second Team All-American. Student-athletes who finish 17th-24th will earn Honorable Mention recognition.

The four-day championship event will be covered in its entirety by the ESPN family of networks. All of the field events will have online broadcasts via ESPN3. A link to the live results can be found here.
