No. 18 Beavers Prepped for Stanford Invitational
April 11, 2019 | Men's Rowing
CORVALLIS – Ranked No. 18 for the sixth-consecutive week, the Oregon State University men's rowing team travels back to Redwood Shores, Calif. this weekend for the Stanford Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
"The flood of 2019 will go down in history as one of the highest recorded at Corvallis," began head coach Gabe Winkler. "This didn't stop our training and the guys rolled with it pretty well. They event put in some strokes on the golf course! They will remember that for the rest of their lives."
"That is a token to the resilience of this team," said Winkler. "They are prepared to race with whatever is thrown at them. At the starting line, nobody cares if you had a rough week because your dock was underwater. We are primed and ready for some speed at our second trip to Redwood Shores."
The two-day event for OSU includes competition with four other schools; No. 4 Cal, No. 14 Wisconsin, No. 22 Hobart and Santa Clara. The Beavers will have the opportunity to race a V8+, 2V8+ and 3V8+ in three different sessions across the weekend.
Oregon State first battles No. 14 Wisconsin on Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m. with the 3V8. The 2V8 follows at 9:30 a.m., while the 1V8 will launch at approximately 10:15 a.m. Following a few hour intermission in between sessions, the Beavers are back on the course for an afternoon race against Santa Clara. The 3V8 will launch first at 3:20 p.m. with the 2V8 to follow at 3:50 p.m. The final race on Saturday for OSU will be the 1V8 at 4:20 p.m.
On Sunday, the Beavers begin the day at 9:10 a.m. with the 3V8 going up against No. 4 Cal. At 9:30 a.m., OSU switches gears to the 2V8 and will race No. 22 Hobart College, and ends the weekend with the 1V8 against Hobart at 10:10 a.m.
