Beavers Win Five Races Against Gonzaga, Washington State

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Oregon State Women's Rowing team concluded fall competition at Silver Lake as they took on Gonzaga and Washington State at the Bulldog Classic on Saturday morning.

The Beavers entered a varsity eight, a second and third varsity eight along with a varsity four to navigate over 4-kilometers on Silver Lake. Oregon State would ultimately win five races on the day over two rounds of rowing for an overall strong showing before returning to competition in the winter.

In the first race of the day, the Beavers V8 finished runner-up behind Washington State with a time of 13:59.3. The V8 lineup featured AnnaRuth Neville (Cox), Tessa White-Parsons, Georgia Foster, Sierra Bishop, Shelby Larkin, Marina Keller, Scout Sutton, Jane Smeins and Anna Schulhoff.

The Beavers would secure first in the 2V8 race with a time of 14:07.4, fourteen seconds better than Washington State's second place finish. The boat was led by cox Cassy Lozano and featured Kathryn Clemens, Abigail Watts, Muryn Greene, Gabriella Yakemow, Amelia Sabin, Olivia Pineda, Maria-Christina Amundson and Hannah Robinson.

The third varsity eight would also secure first in a dual against Washington State with the Beavers' finishing with a time of 14:39.8. The lineup featured cox Bailey Daniels, Grace Rossetti, Mackenzie Rice, Callan Jackman, Emma Bernou, Natalie Tercek, Sophia Costamagna, Becca Pritchard and Hanna Eha.

Round One of the Bulldog Classic was capped off with the varsity four race in which OSU placed third behind Washington State's A and B boats with a time of 16:21.0. Claire Iwata, Bailey Dixon, Hayley West, Madi Shepler and Hannah Walker

In Round Two, the Beavers would go on to win three out of the four races they entered in. The V8 placed second with a time of 14:15.1 behind Washington State before Oregon State would subsequently win the second varsity eight race with a time of 14:30.3. The team used the following lineup for both races: Claire Iwata (Cox), Bailey Dixon, Emma Bernou, Callan Jackman, Hayley West, Natalie Tercek, Hanna Eha, Claire Williams and Hannah Walker.

Two more wins followed as in the 3V8 and V4+ races in Round Two which concluded a successful day at the Bulldog Classic.

Next Up
The Beavers are slated for the annual Orange & Black Regatta on Nov. 16 featuring an intra squad competition at the OSU Boathouse. Oregon State will then return to open its spring schedule on Mar. 7 against Stanford in Redwood Shores, Calif.
