No. 17 Beavers Seek Medals at Pac-12 Championships
May 11, 2018 | Men's Rowing
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State's No. 17 men's rowing team travels to Northern California for the 2018 Pac-12 Rowing Championships Sunday, May 13. The championships will be held at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif.
"We've had our share of hardships this year but our guys have a great attitude and we're peaking at the perfect time with medals on the line at Pac-12's," head coach Gabe Winkler said.
Four OSU crews – the Varsity 8, Junior Varsity 8, Third Varsity 8 and Varsity 4+ – will take on the entire field, in each category, with the first race of the day beginning at 9:15 a.m. with the V4+.
Oregon State's competition includes No. 1 Washington, No. 2 California and No. 8 Stanford. The Beavers raced the Cardinal in dual racing last week with Stanford winning in the V8 and 2V8 and OSU earning the victory in the 3V8.
Crews are awarded points for where they place in each race (the men's V4+ is not scored and does not count toward the team championship scoring). Each program receives points based on the better of its two finishes in the freshman and 3V8 races. The team with the most total points is determined to be the Pac-12 champion.
