CORVALLIS, Ore. – Finally home after two months on the road, the Oregon State University wrestling team returns to Corvallis on Sunday night when it hosts No. 23-ranked Wyoming inside Gill Coliseum at 7 p.m.
"It is always good to get back home and wrestling in front of your home crowd," said head coach Jim Zalesky. "It's good for your guys to be able to sleep in their own bed and make weight here."
You can watch all the action via the live broadcast by Pac-12 Networks. Live stats will be provided through trackwrestling.com and a link to each meet is available on OSUBeavers.com once it has been generated..
The Beavers return home with a 2-3 record in duals. OSU fell in their last dual to Iowa State, 24-16. 125-pounder Ronnie Bresser and 285-pounder Amar Dhesi are undefeated in duals this season. Oregon State has been in close matches all season long.
"We have to put complete matches together," added Zalesky. "We have wrestled well in spurts, but we need to wrestle a lot better in the middle of the match."
Wyoming, ranked No. 23 in the NWCA Coaches Poll, is 5-2 in duals so far this season. The Cowboys defeated American University, 28-10, in their last dual on Jan. 5.
Wyoming's Bryce Meredith hosts the No. 1 ranking at 141 pounds with a 17-1 overall record. Montorie Bridges (No. 9, 133), Archie Colgan (No. 10, 157) and Brandon Ashworth (No. 14, 165) round out the ranked Cowboys.
Sunday night's match will be the 31st time the two teams have grappled in dual competition. The Cowboys got the best of the Beavers in Laramie last season, 32-14. OSU holds a 4-3 series record since 2010.
Oregon State continues to be represented in the individual rankings by a number of wrestling media outlets. 125-pounder Ronnie Bresser is ranked No. 6 by Amateur Wrestling News, a pair of No. 8 placings by InterMat and Win Magazine, and a No. 10-ranking by TheOpenMat. Redshirt junior 197-pounder Corey Griego sits at No. 14 by Win Magazine, two No. 16 rankings by InterMat and Amateur Wrestling News, and No. 20 by TheOpenMat.
Finalizing the Beavers rankings is redshirt senior Amar Dhesi. A 2016 5th place finisher at the NCAAs who missed all of last season with an injury, Dhesi sits as high as No. 6 in the Win Magazine rankings. He is ranked No. 10 by Amateur Wrestling News, No. 12 by InterMat, and No. 13 by TheOpenMat.
Dhesi picked up his 70th career win last weekend with a 13-4 major decision over Iowa State's Marcus Harrington.
