CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State wrestling concludes the home portion of its regular-season schedule this weekend by hosting Cal Poly and CSU Bakersfield at Gill Coliseum.
The Beavers (4-7, 2-1 Pac-12) face Cal Poly at 3 p.m. Friday, and then take on CSUB at 7 p.m. Sunday in their annual Senior Night dual. Sunday's match will be televised by the Pac-12 Network.
Graduating seniors Ali Alshujery, Joey Delgado and Joey Palmer will be honored before Sunday's dual.
"Ali, Joey and Joey have each been very hard workers in the room and great representatives of our program in the classroom and in the Corvallis community," OSU coach Jim Zalesky said. "We thank them for their contributions during their careers here."
Alshujery is a four-year team member who has battled injuries throughout his career. He has 17 lifetime wins and took first place at the Boxer Open and second place at the Mike Clock Open during the 2014-15 season.
An OSU Everyday Champion from Franklin High School in Portland, he is an Exercise and Sports Science major who hopes to attend graduate school.
Delgado is a four-year letterman from Hermiston High School who has 77 career wins and is ranked nationally this season by InterMat, Amateur Wrestling News and The Open Mat.
He was the 2014 Pac-12 champion at 141 pounds and the third-place finisher at 149 pounds in 2016, helping OSU win the team title in both instances. A Human Development and Family Sciences major, he advanced to the 2014 and 2016 NCAA Championships.
Palmer is a two-time NCAA participant from Tahoma High School in Covington, Wash. He is 20-5 this season and has 79 career victories in his four years on varsity.
He has three top-3 finishes at the Pac-12 Championships, and has won individual titles at the Mike Clock Open, the Reno Tournament of Champions, the Clackamas Open and the California Collegiate Open. A Human Development and Family Sciences major, Joey earned Pac-12 all-academic honors last season and has been nominated for academic honors this year as well.
Cal Poly has no wrestlers ranked by InterMat. CSUB has two: Russell Rohlfing (141) is No. 17, and Lorenzo De La Riva (165) is ranked 20th.
CSUB wrestles at Arizona State on Thursday night. Sunday's dual could feature a matchup of former prep teammates, as OSU's Corey Griego and CSUB's Matt Williams each competed for Sultana High School in Apple Valley, Calif.
