No. 15 Women's Crew Sweeps San Diego State

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. - - The No. 15 Oregon State women's crew swept San Diego State on Saturday on the Redwood Shores course at the Stanford Invitational.
The varsity eight raced to its fastest time of the year on the standard 2,000-meter course as they posted a time of 6:42.9 to beat the Aztec crew by 19.7 seconds. OSU's previous best this season of 6:45.8 came in its first meet of the year on the Snake River against Washington State on March 25.
"We were pleased with how we rowed," said OSU coach Charlie Owen. "We had a really good day."
The second varsity eight finished in 6:53.3 to beat SDSU by 16 seconds, and the novice eight crew won its race by 34 seconds when they turned in a time of 6:54.02.
OSU's varsity four took on Kansas and posted a season-low of 7:36.5, but dropped a tight race as the Jayhawks edged them out by 1.9 seconds.
Oregon State wraps up its weekend beginning with varsity and novice four races against Cal Sunday morning, followed by races against Texas. OSU then has two weeks off before heading to Sacramento, Calif., for the Pacific-10 Championships on May 14.
