Alyssa Whitney Hired as Director of Operations
May 16, 2017 | Women's Volleyball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State volleyball head coach Mark Barnard announced Tuesday the hiring of Alyssa Whitney as the program's director of operations.
Â
"I'm excited to have Alyssa join our volleyball staff," Barnard said. "She is passionate about working in a volleyball setting with student-athletes and cut her teeth in a similar role on campus. Having worked with her in various roles for the last several years, I'm certain she will be an outstanding fit with our program."
Â
Whitney, who was raised in nearby Albany, Ore., is an Oregon State graduate who has devoted her career to organizing volleyball squads and tournaments throughout the region and the nation.
Â
"I am thrilled to join this wonderful staff and program at Oregon State," Whitney said. "To be able to combine my passion for the sport with my skills to make the best experience for our student-athletes is a dream come true. I'm ready to hit the ground running."
Â
Whitney succeeds Jessica Quinn, who was recently elevated to be the Beavers' new assistant coach, with a very similar background after spending the last two years as the sport programs specialist in Oregon State's Recreational Sports office. In that role among other duties, Whitney coordinated travel for 40 sport club teams and coordinated intramural leagues.
Â
She has also been the volleyball tournament director for CEVA (Columbia Empire Volleyball Association) coordinating and organizing tournaments since December 2015.
Â
Prior to joining OSU Recreational Sports, Whitney worked as a national sport programs coordinator for the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) where she ran regional and national tournaments in 2014-15.
Â
Whitney also has practical experience with volleyball teams helping coach and manage the high school team at Santiam Christian in Adair Village, Ore. from 2007-14. She has also volunteered with volleyball squad at Corban University the last two years.
Â
Whitney graduated from Oregon State in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in exercise and sport science and a business minor. She participated in volleyball at West Albany High School.
