Game Notes
- Weather at kickoff was clear, 77 degrees with a 6 mph wind.
- The game aired on the Pac-12 Network. JB Long was on the call with Glenn Parker providing analysis and Jill Savage on the sidelines.
- The Beavers wore orange helmets, white jerseys and orange pants
- CU won the coin toss and deferred. Oregon State elected to receive.
- OSU returns to the state of Colorado next year, playing a non-conference game set for Sept. 23, 2017 at Colorado State.
- It was the ninth meeting in the series.
- The game marked the Pac-12 opener for OSU.
- Oregon State notched one first down on its first possession, CU was forced to punt on its first possession. CU had scored on its first drive in each of the previous four games.
- OSU scored first on a Garrett Owens 32-yard field goal with 8:15 left in the first quarter.
- CU attained its initial first down with 7:28 left in 1st quarter.
- CU's receiving TD by Shay Fields of 63 yards is the longest vs. OSU this season.
Oregon State Individual Notes
- OSU was without the services of starting center Yanni Demogerontas due to injury. Projected cornerback Dwayne Williams missed his second straight game with an injury.
- LT Sean Harlow returned to action for the first time since injuring an ankle against Colorado last year. He made his team-leading 29th career start.
- The revamped offensive line started … Harlow (LT), Fred Lauina (LG), Gavin Andrews (C), Dustin Stanton (RG), and Blake Brandel (RT). Andrews, Stanton and Brandel had never played those positions in college.
- Jay Irvine made his first start of his career at CB. He left the game in the first half with a shoulder injury and did not return.
- Timmy Hernandez made his first start of his career at WR.
- Fred Lauina was injured (left knee) in first quarter and was replaced by Gus Lavaka.
- Elu Aydon blocked a point-after-touchdown attempt on Colorado's first touchdown. It was the first XP blocked by the Beavers since current Denver Bronco Kyle Peko did so against Cal last season.
- Jaylynn Bailey had his first kickoff return of his career in the second quarter – 35 yards
- Conor Blount, a true-freshman walkon, saw action in his second straight game. He entered the game late in the second quarter.
- Nick Porebski had a 66-yard punt in the second quarter, his longest of the season. It tied his career-high.
- Artavis Pierce's 18-yard run early in the third quarter was a career-long. He also had his first kickoff return of his career – 32 yards.
- Timmy Hernandez's 10-yard reception in the 4th quarter was the first of his career.
- Garrett Owens hit a pair of field goals from 32- and 40-yards respectively. It gives him six field goals converted in 2016 and 28 in his career which ties for 8th in OSU history (Jose Cortez).
