Kaytianna Kell enters her third season on the Oregon State Gymnastics coaching staff in 2025.
Kell’s floor lineup dominated in 2025, ranking as high as No. 7 in the nation and spending seven weeks in the top 10. The highest rotation score by any apparatus for the Beavs was the floor lineup, who earned a 49.625 against Air Force on March 15 and 49.600 against Fisk one week later, before sealing OSU’s place in the sweet 16 with a 49.525 in the final rotation during Friday’s Regional Semifinal.
Olivia Buckner, Taylor DeVries and Jennifer McMillan all made their floor debuts in 2025, while the run of Sophia Esposito, Sage Thompson, Kaitlin Garcia and Jade Carey was crucial for a lineup that counted four or more 9.900-plus scores at multiple points throughout the year.
After the regular season's conclusion, it was announced that she had won WCGA Region Six (West) Co-Assistant Coach of the Year honors alongside Michael Chaplin and Brian Carey.
After serving as the Special Assistant to the Head Coach / Director of Player Development during the 2023 season, former All-American and 2017 Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year Kaytianna Kell (formerly McMillan) started as an Assistant Coach for the GymBeavs ahead of the 2024 campaign.
In Kell's lone season as Special Assistant to the Head Coach / Director of Player Development for Oregon State, the Beavs earned their second-straight Pac-12 Regular Season Title, advance to the postseason for the 48th-straight season, while breaking through to the NCAA Regional Finals for first time since 2019.
Kell spent the 2022 season at UC Davis where the team finished the season with the highest NQS score in school history, tallying a 195.915, while Kell assisted in 17 MPSF All-Conference honors with eight individuals receiving recognition, including the MPSF Gymnast of the Year and three Aggies qualifying for the 2022 NCAA Regional Championship.
The Aggies earned the highest score in school history at an MPSF Championship, earning a 196.05 to finish second at the meet. Kell assisted in the Aggies breaking the school's road score with a 196.225 at Sacramento State, as well as school and conference vault score with a 49.3 at San Jose State.
During the 2020 season, in her first year on the Seattle Pacific staff, Kell was honored as the NCAA Division II Assistant Coach of the Year by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association. The Falcons finished the season with their highest national qualifying score in four years at 192.745.
Kell's coaching career began at Oregon State, where she served as recruiting coordinator and mentored the balance beam squad. The Beavers finished sixth at the NCAA Championships for their best national finish since 1996, while Maela Lazara captured second-team All-America accolades on beam under Kell's tutelage in 2019.
Originally from Coburg, Oregon, Kell enjoyed an outstanding career at Oregon State. She qualified for the NCAA regionals as a freshman and senior, and garnered five total All-Pac-12 Conference honors, including first-team distinction on floor exercise and all-around in 2017.
In Kell's senior season, she won the floor and all-around titles at the Champaign Regional, then added a 9.900 at the national meet to claim second-team All-America status. Overall, she hit 51 of 52 routines that year, scored 26 overall event wins and landed the first 10.0 by an OSU gymnast in almost a decade. Kell was honored as the Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year and named to the final ballot of the AAI Award, which is presented to the top senior gymnast in the country.
In the classroom, Kell earned NACGC/W (now WCGA) Scholastic All-America acclaim in each of her four seasons, snared three Pac-12 All-Academic nods, and helped Oregon State compile the No. 10 GPA in the nation as a senior. She graduated in 2017 with a degree in human development and family science.
Kell is married to former OSU football player Drew Kell. The couple have one son, Kylen, and are expecting their second son in October.
