Sanchez Named Defensive Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Oregon State senior Mya Sanchez was named West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday.
The Turlock, Calif., native had a strong showing in the Beavers' 1-1 draw at Fresno State over the weekend, making eight saves and boasting a save percentage of 88.9%. After Saturday's performance, Sanchez now leads the conference in saves with 40, while also maintaining a save percentage of 78.4% and allowing 1.38 goals per game.
Monday's announcement isn't the first time Oregon State's starting goalkeeper has earned recognition for her performances, as she was twice named Defensive Player of the Week during the 2024 season and earned her spot on the All-Conference Honorable Mention team after a strong junior campaign.
Sanchez and the Beavers return to action on Wednesday, heading south to open conference play at Pepperdine.
