Strong Second Half Fuels Beaver Win at Utah
September 14, 2025 | Women's Soccer
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Mia Erba and Carly Carraher both scored second half goals as Oregon State women's soccer defeated Utah, 2-1, on Sunday at Ute Field.
Carraher's game-winner was her first in 2025 and puts the Portland native in a tie for the team lead in points with four, having assisted on a pair of goals earlier this season to go with Sunday's goal. Playing 59 minutes off the bench, Carraher finished the game as one of seven OSU student-athletes to record at least one shot.
Assisting on the game-winner was Alyssa White, who found herself on the scoresheet for the first time as a Beav. Driving forward from the wide area, she played a simple cut back pass to Carraher, who one-timed a shot to the near post. White nearly found the back of the net soon after from a near identical spot to Carraher's goal, but an acrobatic save kept the Beaver lead to just one.
Utah took the lead off a corner kick just two minutes into the game, but Oregon State tied the match just two minutes into the second half off the foot of Mia Erba, who had her left-footed shot deflect to the far post in the 47th minute. Erba, a San José, Calif., native, played the full 90 minutes for her 20th-consecutive game dating to last season, and is one of two players on the roster who have played every single minute in 2025.
Mya Sanchez finished Sunday's game with three saves as Oregon State held the Utes to just four total shots on goal. Nathalie Lewis led the team with a pair of shots while London Tsuma played 83 minutes in the first start of her collegiate career.
Oregon State returns to action next Saturday, hitting the road to face Fresno State in the non-conference finale. Kickoff against the Bulldogs is scheduled for 12 p.m.
