Arquette Homers, Beavers Drop Matchup To Oklahoma
February 22, 2025 | Baseball
ROUND ROCK, Texas – Aiva Arquette hit a first-inning home run but seventh-ranked Oregon State dropped an 8-4 decision to Oklahoma Saturday at Dell Diamond.
Trent Caraway singled to open the first and scored when Arquette hit an opposite field fly ball that narrowly cleared the right field fence just down the line. The home run, his second of the year, gave the Beavers an early 2-0 lead.
That lead, however, was relinquished in the fourth when the Sooners (5-0) scored four runs, including two on a home run by Scott Mudler. Easton Carmichael hit another two-run home run in Oklahoma's three-run sixth inning.
AJ Singer got the Beavers (5-1) back on the board with a two-run single in the eighth to have the Sooners' lead.
Arquette paced the Beavers with two hits.
Dax Whitney, making his second start of the year, took the loss, dropping to 1-1 on the year. He allowed four runs on four hits in 3 1/3 innings.
Cade Crossland earned the win for Oklahoma, improving to 1-0. The second of two relievers, he allowed two runs and a hit in three innings.
