October 04, 2025 | Men's Soccer
CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's soccer team moved to 2-0 in West Coast Conference play with a 3-0 win over Saint Mary's Saturday evening at Paul Lorenz Field.
Arnau Farnos scored twice in the match, to bring his season total to eight goals in nine games. Lucas Fernandez Kim netted the second for Oregon State, his second of the campaign. Fabian Straudi had a pair of assists as he moved within one of Sofiane Djeffal for second on Oregon State's career list with 20. Farnos also recorded an assist finish the day with five points.
With the victory, Oregon State moves to 6-3-0 on the year. The game was played before a crowd of 1,258, as the Beavers returned to Lorenz Field for the first time since Sept. 4.
Oregon State was on the front-foot early on as Fernandez Kim and Farnos both had scoring opportunities within the first 10 minutes of the match. Tim Hoffman forced a sprawling save in the 13th minute.
The Beavers had 10 shots within the first 25 minutes of action, but were unable to find the breakthrough to that point.
Farnos opened the scoring in the 26th minute off a great setup from Straudi, who dribbled through multiple defenders to find the Spaniard in the box. Oregon State wasted little time adding a second, as this time Farnos turned provider to deliver the assist for Fernandez Kim in the 28th.
The Beavers nearly added a third before the break, as Fernando Hernandez had his attempt bounce off the crossbar and back into the penalty area. Oregon State headed to the intermission up 2-0.
The Gaels came out stronger to begin the second half, creating a handful of scoring chances in the opening 15 minutes of the period. Andrew De Gannes made an impressive individual run and forced a save in the 71st minute. Farnos finished things off with two minutes to go, as Fernandez Kim made creative spinning run down the endline to facilitate the strike.
John Nicolson made two saves in the contest to log his third clean sheet of the season. Overall, Oregon State out-shot Saint Mary's 17-12 on the evening.
The Beavers will be back in action on Friday when they head to Southern California for a matchup with LMU.
