Beavers' Strong Performance Clinches Fourth Place Finish at Pac-12 Championships
May 20, 2024 | Women's Rowing
GOLD RIVER, Calif. – Oregon State women's rowing competed Sunday morning at the 2024 Pac-12 Championship. Competition was steep as the Beavers faced a field of ranked opponents including No. 2 Stanford, No. 4 California, No. 8 Washington, and No. 17 Washington State; highlighted by a pair of 4th place finishes in the 1V8+ and 2V8+, OSU finished the championship regatta in fourth place.
OSU's third varsity eight opened the regatta for Oregon State. The crew coxed by Grace Sansoterra featuring Jenny Doss, Isabella Mitchell, Tulla Angeley, Zoe Eberle, Addy Dunlap, Hannah Stively, Margo Calub and Megan Lautner, beat the Washington State Cougars and their seed to come in sixth place overall.
Sophomore Kate Worley stroked the Beavs' varsity four (Taylor Denger, Kate Worley, Sasha Delman, Anna Bledsoe and Elke Thursten) through a tight race with USC to finish fifth, just behind the Trojans.
The team's second varsity eight (Nicole Shultz, Charlotte Lightfoot, Anneka Davys, Alex Hutchinson, Becca Logan, Reese Wyatt, Ashtyn Miller, Katie Judd and Zoe Bishop), coxed by senior and Gold River local Nicole Shultz, had their best race of the season surpassing their pre-regatta seed by two spots. OSU walked through lanes four, five and seven to finish a boat length ahead of fifth place USC.
In the premier event, the Beaver's first varsity eight (Charlotte Gregory, Giulia Clerici, Maeve Donnelly, Torree Hawken, Rhianna Loughnan, Evan Park, Annelise Norkitis, Lauren Garrett and Becky Falash) found a rhythm that propelled them to a strong fourth place finish also beating their seed by two spots. Senior bow seat Becky Falash was the first to cross the line ahead of perennial rival Washington State University.
Oregon State awaits a potential at large bid ahead of the 2024 NCAA Rowing Championship, set to take place May 31-June 2 at Harsha Lake in Bethel Ohio. The live selection show for the NCAA rowing championship will stream Tuesday, May 21 at 5 p.m. Eastern on NCAA.com.
