Kyra Ly Leads Beavers In First Round At Pac-12 Championship

PULLMAN, Wash. – Kyra Ly carded an even-par 72 to lead the Oregon State women's golf team in the first round of the Pac-12 Championship on Sunday.
Ly, a sophomore from Portland, birdied her first hole of the day, the par-5 10th, and added an eagle on the par-4, 306-yard 15th to go with three bogeys for her even-par round. She's tied for sixth place and only two strokes back of clubhouse leaders Madelyn Gamble of Washington State and Catherine Park of USC who both fired a 2-under 70.
Only five golfers in the 55-player field finished the opening round in red figures.
The Beavers are tied for ninth place after posting a 16-over 304 at the par-72, 6,324-yard Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
The Pac-12 Network will produce a 30-minute highlight recap of the first round that will air on the network at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
The second round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 9:00 a.m. on Monday and live scoring is available at golfstat.com. Oregon State will start on the 10th hole at 10:10 a.m. and be paired with Arizona and California.
Chayse Gomez rolled in two birdies, on the par-4 second and par-3 13th holes, and is tied for 17th place with a 3-over 75.
True freshman Raya Nakao is also tied for 17th place with a 3-over 75 that included birdies on the par-4 seventh, par-4 15th and par-5 18th holes.
Madde Sund finished the day with a 10-over 82 and Kelly Hope was forced to withdraw before completing the opening round.
Stanford leads by seven strokes after finishing with a 2-under 286, while Oregon is second (5-over 293), Washington State is third (9-over 297) and USC is fourth (10-over 298).
