
Beavers Fall at Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Oregon State men's basketball team fell to Arizona State 79-61 Wednesday evening in Tempe, Ariz.
Tyler Bilodeau led the Beavers with 21 points and four assists. Michael Rataj finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while Jordan Pope had 11 points and three assists.
Justin Rochelin and Dexter Akanno finished with six points apiece. Rochelin also pulled down seven boards. As a team, Oregon State shot 45 percent from the floor in the contest.
Arizona State jumped out to a 13-4 lead early in the first half. Oregon State battled back to cut the edge to 15-10. The offenses picked up from there, with the Beavers scoring eight-straight points to take a 28-27 lead.
The Sun Devils answered to go back in front late in the opening frame, but Pope knocked down a 3-pointer seconds before the horn to send the teams to the intermission level at 33.
Arizona State opened up a 44-36 lead five minutes into the second half. The Sun Devils led by as many as 21 on their way to the 18-point victory.
Jamiya Neal led ASU with 21 points.
The Beavers will return home Saturday to take on Oregon in the Rivalry Series presented by Safeway-Albertsons, PacificSource Health Plans, Your Local Toyota Dealers and First Interstate Bank.
