Beavers Drop Road Battle in OT
December 05, 2024 | Women's Basketball
STOCKTON, Calif. – Oregon State fought for the full 40 minutes and overtime, but dropped the conference opener to Pacific 66-63 on the road.
Â
The Beavers got 17 points from AJ Marotte and 14 inside from Sela Heide, including a clutch jumper that gave OSU a late lead in the fourth quarter. Kelsey Rees added 10 points, including an 8-for-8 day at the free throw line.
Â
Shuler and Rees each corralled eight rebounds and the senior forward dished four assists.
Â
The Beavs overcame a difficult first half where they committed 16 turnovers with an excellent third quarter. OSU won the period 20-11 while making 60% of their shots from the floor and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc.
Â
Oregon State made 8-of-11 free throws down the stretch of the game, but the Tigers couldn't miss from three. Pacific shot 62.5 percent from beyond the arc to claw their way into overtime.
Â
Once there, Shuler made a floater to open the period but the Beavs couldn't get much to fall. Catarina Ferreira's would-be game-tying triple rattled in and out, ending the contest.
Â
After a di to the 2024-25 season, the Beavs will have a 10-day break between games. UC Irvine is up next for Oregon State, with the Beavers hosting the Anteaters on December 15.
