Johnson Sets Trysting Tree Course Record, Beavers No. 1 After 36 Holes

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Rylan Johnson set the Trysting Tree course record Monday, shooting a 9-under 62 in his second round of play at the Oregon State Invitational.
Johnson's round was a personal record-low, surpassing a 7-under 65 at the Amer Ari Invitational in Hawai'i. It also comes just a couple weeks after Collin Hodgkinson set the OSU single-round record with a 10-under 61 at The Tindall. That gives OSU the two lowest scores in back-to-back tournaments.
Johnson, a junior, finished with nine birdies in round two, including four consecutive from holes 10-13. He ended the 36 holes with a 10-under 132 to head into the final 18 holes with the lead.
He led the Beavers to a No. 1 finish day one finish. OSU shot a 10-under as a team at the par-71, 7,384-yard Trysting Tree Golf Club.
Collin Hodgkinson is tied for eighth after day one, shooting a 2-under 140. Hodgkinson posted a 1-under 70 in the second round and ended the day with six birdies. He enters the final day tied for 10th.
Bradley Smolinski was just behind Hodgkinson, finishing at par. He shot a 71 in both rounds and totaled five birdies. He is tied for 14th.
Brandon Eyre is one shot behind Smolinski, at 1-over 143. He finished with four birdies on the day, and shot at par in the first round before finishing with a 1-over 72 in the second round. Eyre is tied for 21st.
Brody Marconi battled back with a 2-over 73 in the second round. He shot a 12-over 154 on the day and is 69th.
