Beavers Cruise To Home Victory Over Brown Bears

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State gymnastics team opened its home schedule with a convincing 197.575-192.950 win over Brown in front of a crowd of 4,461 on Sunday afternoon at Gill Coliseum.
Sophia Esposito (vault), Jade Carey and Taylor DeVries (bars), Ellie Weaver (beam) and Ariana Young (floor) all earned event titles for the Beavers.
Oregon State, which improved to 6-1 this season, started on the vault and were led by Esposito's 9.900. Sydney Gonzales and Carey both tied for second with a 9.875, while Natalie Briones, Kaitlin Garcia and Julia Bedall of Brown all tied for fourth with a 9.850.
In the second rotation, Carey and DeVries each posted a 9.875 to share the uneven bars title. Carley Beeman, Jennifer McMillan and DeVries all scored a 9.850 to finish in a tie for third.
The Beavers had their best score on the beam, a 49.500, led by Ellie Weaver's career-best 9.975. Carey finished second with a 9.950, Esposito was third with a 9.900 and Young posted a 9.875 to finish in fourth. Olivia Buckner and Gonzales both scored a 9.800 to finish in a tie for sixth.
On the final rotation, Oregon State had a 49.425 on the floor and were led by Young's 9.925, which equaled her best career score. Weaver capped a great day with a 9.900, another career best, while Garcia and Esposito each had a 9.875 to finish in a tie for fourth.
