BREMERTON, Wash. – Mateo Fuenmayor tied for fourth at the Husky Invitational while Stanley Lin claimed the title at the Husky Individual Invitational as play concluded Tuesday afternoon.
Fuenmayor had his best round of the 54 holes at the Gold Mountain-Olympic Course, finishing with a 5-under 67 on the par-72 course. He ended the two days with a 7-under 209, and ended his trip north with 21 birdies, the most at the event.
Lin, meanwhile, totaled his third consecutive 5-under 67 at the par-72 Gold Mountain-Cascade Course. He won the individual event by two strokes, and was seven ahead of Jackson Lake, who tied for sixth with an 8-under 208.
"I'm really excited about the progress we made as a group this week from Michigan to now," Oregon State head coach Jon Reehoorn said. "As a team we competed at a really well. We executed shots at a high level and took advantage when we had the opportunity."
The Beavers, as a team, finished tied for third with a 12-under 852. Alfred Raja and Rylan Johnson each tied for 22nd via a 1-under 215. Johnson had his second consecutive round under par, while Raja was just 1-over.
Johnson tallied 16 birdies, with Raja connecting on 11. Johnson was 8-under on par-5 holes, while Raja was 1-under on par 3s.
"It was awesome to see the bounce back and fight our guys showed over the last few holes yesterday afternoon and today," Reehoorn said.
Collin Hodgkinson tied for 36th with a 1-over 217, and Nicolas Quintero shot a 7-over 223, good for a tie for 58th.
At the Indy Invite, Lin tied for the event's lead with 17 birdies.
"Stanley struggled in Michigan, took to heart what we talked about when it comes to making the game a little more simple, not trying to make birdie…just allowing it to come to him and the birdies happened," Reehoorn said. It was really cool to see him have the ability to go low like that for three days-in-a-row."
Brandon Eyre, meanwhile, tied for 20th with a 3-under 213. Zach Miller tied for 30th at par 216 and Brody Marconi was 49th with an 18-over 234.
OSU returns to action when hosting the Oregon State Invitational Oct. 9-10 at Trysting Tree.
