Beavers Fall to Bears in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Oregon State men's basketball team battled for the full 40 minutes, but No. 13 Baylor took an 88-72 win in the opening game of the NIT Season Tip-Off at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Oregon State out-scored Baylor in the second half of the contest.
Dexter Akanno led the Beavers in scoring with 16 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the floor. Jordan Pope had 13 points, four rebounds and three assists, while DaJohn Craig went a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor and 2-for-2 from beyond the are to finish with 12 points.
KC Ibekwe tallied 10 points, six rebounds and three blocks, and Chol Marial had eight points on 3-for-4 shooting. Tyler Bilodeau tallied nine points.
As a team, the Beavers shot 49.1 percent from the floor.
Baylor jumped out to a 12-4 lead at the game's first media timeout. The Bears extended the advantage to 44-26 at halftime.
Oregon State battled back at the start of the second half, getting back within 12 three minutes into the period. The Beavers continued to battled through the second half, as the teams traded punches. Oregon State out-paced Baylor in the period, but the Beavers maintained the advantage to take the win.
The Beavers will now face either Pittsburgh or Florida Friday at 12 p.m. PT.
