
Women's Rowing Concludes Historic Season with 14th Place Finish at NCAA Championships

SARASOTA, Fla. – The Oregon State women's rowing team finished its historic season in 14th at the 2022 NCAA Championships at Nathan Benderson Park. Earning a 14th place finish in both the varsity eight and second varsity eight and placing 16th in the varsity four.
The OSU Varsity four got the day started for the Beavers with a highly competitive final. The racing was tight throughout and required a fast finishing sprint which had the Beavs closing on third place Duke and solidified their lead over Penn & Gonzaga. Finishing with a time of 7:21.76 – fourth behind SMU, Syracuse and Duke.
The Oregon State Second Varsity 8 claimed second place in their C Final after coming off the line in tight race across all six lanes. The crew walked back through the field with strength and composure and managed to move past third place Duke in the final stretch of the race. Finishing in second for the C final with a time of 6:41.14. Rutgers took the final with a finish of 6:37.80.
The Varsity 8 C Final wrapped up the day for the Beavers as the crew took second place behind Rutgers but not without a fight. OSU led the field through the middle thousand of the race and narrowly missed winning the C final with a time of 6:33.07 to Rutgers 6:31.93. USC, Duke, Syracuse and Gonzaga rounded out the final in 3rd – 6th respectively.
The 14th place finish at the NCAA National Championship marks the highest finish since 1999 when OSU placed 13th.
