Beavers Place Third at Pac-12 Championships; Sending Six to NCAA Championships

TEMPE, Ariz. – It was the closest team race in recent memory at the Pac-12 Wrestling Championships that saw the Oregon State wrestling team nearly capture title inside of Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday Night.
The Beavers placed third as a team with 77.5 points, just four points behind the Pac-12 Champions Stanford. Arizona State placed second with 79.8 points, while CSUB (49.5) and Cal Poly (15) round out the competitive field.
Oregon State captured four individual titles at 125, 141, 184, 285-pound weight classes, and are sending a total of six student-athletes to the 2019 NCAA Wrestling Championships in Pittsburgh on March 21-23.
No. 3-ranked Ronnie Bresser was a perfect 2-0 on the day as he captured his third Pac-12 individual title in his final season of collegiate wrestling. Bresser defeated Eddie Flores (CSUB) in the semifinals by fall, before taking out Ryan Millhof (ASU) by decision, 5-4.
Devan Turner earned his first NCAA Tournament bid by finishing in third place, and winning the NCAA Allocation match by injury default. Turner won in the quarterfinals, before being knocked to the consolation bracket in the semis. He won by major decision, 14-6, over Josiah Kline (ASU) for third place.
The second champion of the night for the Beavers came at 141 pounds with another first-time NCAA qualifier. Grant Willits won a tight match in the semifinals against Cory Crooks (ASU) by decision 3-2, before he pinned his way to the win in the finals against Brandon Kier (Stanford).
Hunter Willits qualified for his second NCAA Championships at 157 pounds with his second consecutive runner-up finish at the Pac-12 Championships. Willits defeated Stanford's Paul Fox in the semifinals by decision 6-1, before falling to Christian Pagdilao (ASU) in the finals by decision, 6-2.
Hermiston native Bob Coleman captured his first individual title at the Pac-12 Championships at 184 pounds. Coleman won a tight contest in the semifinals against Jaen Petersen (ASU) by decision 9-7. He then faced Judah Duhm (Stanford) in the finals winning by decision 4-2 and qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
The final qualifier for the Beavers came at heavyweight in No. 3 Amar Dhesi. Dhesi cruised to his third Pac-12 individual title with a first period pin in the semifinals over Sam Aguilar (Cal Poly). The Surrey, B.C. native won his championship with a 17-3 major decision in the finals against Haydn Maley (Stanford).
