Yanish Wins Vault, Beavers Fall at LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 15 Oregon State gymnastics team hit 23 out of 24 routines but short to No. 4 LSU. The final score was 198.150-196.375.
With the loss Oregon State's record falls to 9-3.
"This was a great, competitive environment and LSU has a great team and we have really enjoyed the hospitality during this trip," head coach Tanya Chaplin said. "Tonight was another learning opportunity for our team. Overall, this was a solid performance for us but we need to relax out there perform our best."
The Beavers rolled out to a strong start beginning the meet on the uneven bars. Halli Briscoe led the squad with a career-best tying 9.875 while Sabrina Gill added a 9.85. Mariana Colussi-Pelaez scored 9.825 and Isis Lowery pitched in with a 9.80 to give the Beavers a 49.100 in the rotation.
Trailing 49.375-49.100 heading to the second event, Oregon State produced six solid vaults to continue building its score. Kaitlyn Yanish hit a near-perfect vault to record a career-best 9.950. McKenna Singley posted a 9.80 to help give the Beavers a 49.050 on the event.
Moving to the floor exercise, where OSU is ranked No. 9 in the nation, the Beavers picked up their highest event score of the meet with a 49.275. Yanish tallied a team-best 9.950 with Isis Lowery registered a 9.875 as well. Singley contributed with a 9.850 and Madi Dagen scored 9.825.
Oregon State trailed 148.475-147.425 entering the final rotation. Lacy Dagen tied her career-high with a team-leading 9.90 while Colussi-Pelaez nailed her routine to score 9.850.
OSU returns to Corvallis next week to host a quad meet with Iowa, North Carolina and Seattle Pacific for Senior Night, Friday at 7 p.m.
