
Beavers Conclude Play At PING/ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. – Haley Nist led the Oregon State women's golf team to an 11th place finish against a tough field at the PING/ASU Invitational on Sunday.
The Beavers wrapped up the three-day, 54-hole tournament with a 32-over 294-299-303--896 at the par-72, 6,337-yard ASU Karsten Golf Club.
The event included nine of the 14 teams among the top 31 in the latest golfstat.com rankings. No. 3 UCLA won the team title with a 12-under 852, while No. 11 Arizona State finished second with a 6-under 858 and No. 1 Alabama was the other team to finish in red figures with a 5-under 859 for third place.
Nist, a sophomore from Meridian, Idaho, led the Beavers on the individual leaderboard with a 5-over 72-72-77--221 to finish in a tie for 22nd place.
Senior Ashlee Pickerell finished in a tie for 41st place with a 10-over 71-80-75--226, while senior Chelsea Saelee (75-76-77) and sophomore Hannah Swanson (76-76-76) both tied for 53rd place with a 12-over 228. Freshman Olivia Benzin bounced back from a tough opening round to finish in a tie for 70th place with a 20-over 86-75-75--236.
UCLA's Bronte Law set a tournament record with a 12-under 64-71-69--204 to claim medalist honors by three strokes over her teammate, Lilia Vu.
Next up for Oregon State is the Pac-12 Championship, which will be held in Pleasanton, Calif., from April 18-20.
