ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Oregon State scored first to take a 7-0 lead but could not sustain its early prosperity and fell 35-7 to Michigan on Saturday at Michigan Stadium.
Michigan (1-1) used a big second quarter to take a 17-7 halftime lead and eased home from there to defeat the Beavers (1-1) and win its first home game under new coach Jim Harbaugh.
OSU quarterback Seth Collins was 9 of 16 passing for 79 yards and a 21-yard TD to Hunter Jarmon to put the Beavers ahead 7-0 in the first quarter. He also ran for 28 yards.
He was replaced briefly by Marcus McMaryion late in the third quarter, but returned in the fourth quarter to finish out the game.
Chris Brown led OSU's rushers with 33 yards in seven carries. Jordan Villamin and Victor Bolden had three receptions apiece.
The Beavers return to action against San Jose State at 5 p.m. Sept. 19 at Reser Stadium. The game will be televised by Pac-12 Networks.
