AMES, Iowa – Oregon State sneaked out a pair of wins on the road Sunday afternoon beating Iowa State 195.975-195.950 while SE Missouri State finished at 193.300. Madeline Gardiner led the Beavers with a 39.275 in the all-around as the Beavers posted season-high team scores on all for events.

“We had some good improvements today and that's a good thing,” head coach Tanya Chaplin said. “But we gave away a lot and need to get into the gym and clean it up. This team is motivated and ready to get back to work. It's good though that we continue to improve and scores are on the rise. We'll need to keep doing that throughout the season.”

Opening the meet on the uneven bars, senior Taylor Keeker tied a career-best 9.80 to open the meet setting a tone of success. Sophomore Kaytianna McMillan returned to the lineup posting a score of 9.80 as well and Aufiero notched a 9.825 to help the Beavers to a 48.825.

Trailing Iowa State after the opening rotation 48.925-48.825, the Beavers moved to the balance beam where they wowed the judges. All six OSU gymnasts set or tied season-high scores Madeline Gardiner and Risa Perez led the scoring with a pair of 9.90's. Chelsea Tang added a 9.875 and McMillan and Katelyn Ohlrich each scored 9.80. OSU's team total of 49.275 was OSU's first 49-point event of the year.

OSU led at the midway point 98.100-97.675 moving to the floor exercise. Gardiner and Nicole Turner each posted scores of 9.825 to earn second-place finishes on the event. Cerise Witherby added a 9.80 and Tang scored 9.75. Meanwhile, Iowa State tallied three scores of 9.90 or better on the beam to re-take the lead heading into the final stanza 147.100-147.000.

Finishing on the vault, the Beavers scored 48.975 led by Gardiner's 9.875. Keeker scored 9.850 and Megan Jimenez marked at 9.825 to give OSU the win.

Oregon State is back on the road next week to face Stanford next Monday, Jan. 26, in the Beavers' second straight road trip.
