CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women's soccer team beat the New Hampshire Wildcats 4-0 Sunday to close out the University of Oregon Nike Tournament.
Head coach Linus Rhode was pleased with the multi-goal game and happy that the team converted the chances into goals.
“We have been creating a lot of chances through all these games, so it was nice to see us put some away today,” Rhode said. “As long as we keep creating chances, we will score more goals. The girls played well for 90 minutes today, which is the goal. We are improving.”
The Beavers unloaded goal after goal against New Hampshire and improved their record to 3-1-1. Erin Uchacz found the back of the net first for Oregon State in the 28th minute of the game. After a ball was crossed into the box, Uchacz got the ball at her feet and made the score 1-0.
Jessica Niewoehner added another goal in the 38th minute after Chelsea Buckland slid a ball towards the 18-yard-box and Niewoehner blasted the ball past the New Hampshire goalkeeper. The score stayed at 2-0 heading into halftime.
Haley Shaw scored her second goal of the season in the 64th minute. The Beavers won the ball in the midfield and after a quick combination play, Jenna Richardson played Shaw in for a nicely placed goal into the low corner.
Jacy Drobney notched her first goal of the season just minutes later when she was played into the 18-yard-box by Shaw making the final score 4-0.
The Oregon State Beavers will return to action Friday Sept. 9 to take on New Mexico in the Nike Portland Invitational in Portland, Ore.
