
Swimming Finishes Regular Season with Dual Split

SEATTLE, Wash. - The women's swim team ends the day in Seattle with a split outcome. They beat host team Seattle University with a score of 146.50-114.50 but fell short against Boise with a score of 178-83.
"Looking ahead to the Pac-10 Championships later this month, we swam very well today," Oregon State women's swimming head coach Larry Liebowitz said following the meet Saturday. "Our best swims were from Rachel O'Brien and Jenni Dole today. Arianna Gorenc and Crystal Kibby really stepped up and swam wall also today."
With a time of 56.54, Dole got the win in the 100 backstroke and got a second win in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:02.94. She now finishes the regular season tied for the team lead dual wins with 12.
O'Brien got a win for the team in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:01.04. She also finishes tied for the team lead in dual wins with 12. She also came in second in the 100y butterfly event with a time of 55.76.
Of the two relay events Oregon State placed second in each. In the 200 medley - Dole, Marisa Warman, O'Brien, and Ashley Kerekanich - finished with a time of 1:47.18 and in the 400 freestyle relay - Dole, Keri Holmstrom, Kerekanich, and Ocean Trail - got second with a time of 3:34.42.
"We beat Seattle and lost to Boise," Liebowitz said. "It's the first time Boise has ever beaten us but I think that were in good shape for the Pac-10 Championships and were sitting at about 18 days away."
The Beavers have until February 22 to prepare for the Pac-10 championships. The championships are going to take place in Federal Way, Washington over a five-day period from the Feb. 22-26.
