CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State gymnastics team posted its third best score of the year but still had to count falls on bars and beam as the No. 21 Beavers fell to No. 7 Utah, 196.525-195.200, at Gill Coliseum on Sunday.
"They were flat today," said coach Tanya Chaplin. "(After the meet) we talked about the motivation it's going to take going into postseason."
The Beavers got a career-high 9.925 from Elizabeth Jillson on bars, which earned her a first-place finish for the first time in her career. Stephanie Bychowski turned in a 9.875 to place third on bars, but OSU also had two falls and had to count a 9.10 score.
Bychowski and Annie Campbell led OSU with 9.875 routines on beam as they tied three Ute gymnasts for second place. But the Beavers had two falls on beam as well, forcing them to count a 9.275.
Katrina Severin tied for first on vault with a 9.90, and she also tied Campbell for second place on floor with a 9.875.
Campbell placed second in the all-around with a career-high 39.375. In addition to leading the Beavers on beam and floor, she turned in a career-high 9.80 on bars and added a 9.825 on vault.
