PHOENIX - Jenni Jodoin drove in both the tying and game-winning runs as the No. 11 Oregon State softball team downed Wisconsin, 2-1, in eight innings at the Fiesta Bowl Classic on Sunday.
Wisconsin shortstop Jade Gosse doubled and scored in the third inning to give the Badgers an early 1-0 lead, but Jodoin's base hit in the sixth allowed Brooke Rutschman to score the tying run.
Jodoin later singled in the bottom of the eighth to drive home pinch runner Michelle Notaro, who started the inning on second base with the international tie breaker rule in effect.
"It was nice to see that we could come from behind when were down a run," coach Kirk Walker said. "The team worked very hard, and we had a great weekend."
Steph Adams also had two hits, including a double. Rutschman also added a double for the Beavers.
Crystal Draper improved to 2-0 upon pitching the complete game. She allowed seven hits and one walk while striking out eight Badger batters. Andrea Kirchberg (2-2) was credited with the loss despite allowing just five hits with 12 strikeouts.
"Crystal did a phenomenal job. She was down the first couple innings, but by the fourth inning it started to click," Walker said. "It was nice to see Crystal get back into her old form."
The Beavers went 5-0 at the Fiesta Bowl Classic to improve their overall record to 5-1-1 while Wisconsin dropped to 2-3.
