Cross Country to Compete in OSU Beaver Classic

Corvallis, Ore. – Five Oregon State cross country runners, as well as 14 other competitors running unattached, will be racing in the OSU Beaver Classic, hosted by the Corvallis Running Project, on Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m. in Avery Park.
The 6,000-meter course is made up of relatively flat, grassy 2,000-meter loops. Oregon State’s group is missing its top eight runners, who are preparing for the Pac-10 Cross Country Championships in Long Beach, Calif., on Friday, Oct. 30.
“The OSU Beaver Classic is always a great race, event and venue,” head coach Kelly Sullivan said. “The women who are competing are very excited.”
Competing for the Beavers will senior Jenny O’Connor (Newfane, N.Y.), junior Kambria Schumacher (Sweet Home, Ore.), sophomore Cassandra Schumacher (Sweet Home, Ore.) and redshirt freshmen Lorine Cruz (Grants Pass, Ore.) and Emily Olsen (Medford, Ore.).
Prior to the race at 9:00 a.m., members of the Oregon State cross country team will be volunteering at the Strands 5K. taking place around the Oregon State campus and benefitting the Childhelp organization.
