Cross Country to Compete at the Bill Dellinger Invitational

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women's cross country team travels Saturday to Eugene to take part in the Dellinger Invitational hosted by the University of Oregon. The women's 6,000 meter race will start at 12:30 p.m. on the Pre's Trail in Alton Baker Park. Pre's Trail is comprised of almost entirely woodchip trails constructed by the Oregon Track Club in memory of Steve Prefontaine. The course consists of two primary loops -- the Green Loop and the Yellow Loop. The Green Loop is approximately 2,200 meters in length and the Yellow Loop is approximately 1,000 meters in length. The Beavers will be sending around 17 runners to compete in the Dellinger. The team competed at the Dellinger Invitational last year and finished eighth overall. Jennifer Macias paced the Beavers last year with a time of 17:36.36. The Beavers have had a few weeks off to prepare for the Dellinger having last run three weeks ago. Three different groups ran three weeks ago. Ten runners ran at the Griak Women's 6,000 meter Gold race hosted by the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis with Sandra Martinez posting the best time for the Beavers with a time of 22:56.30. Another group of seven runners took part in the Women's No Limit race hosted by Saint Mary's University of Minnesota with Audrey Botti coming in second with a time of 23:35.90. All seven runners finished in the top-15 which propelled them to a first place finish over six other schools. A third and final group of 10 runners ran at the Linfield Preview meet in McMinnville, Ore. Joslynn Corredor helped propel the Beavers to a first place finish with her time of 24:13.16 which was good enough for sixth place. After competition Saturday, the Beavers next hit the trail at the Beaver Classic which will be Oct. 23 with the women's 6,000 meter race staring at 9:45 a.m. It will be held at Avery Park in Corvallis.
