Cross Country to compete at Pier Park Invite

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women's cross country team travel to the Pier Park Invitational hosted by the University of Portland this Friday, Sept. 10 with races beginning at 4 p.m. local time. The ten-team event will begin with the women's 6,000-meter race; followed by the men's 8,000-meter race at 4:45 p.m. Schools competing in the 2010 Pier Park Invitational include Portland, Willamette, Seattle, Oregon State, Warner Pacific, Portland State, Clackamas CC, Clark College, Mt. Hood CC, and Highline CC. The Beavers are coming off their season opener when they hosted the inaugural John Frank Memorial Invitational at Avery Park in Corvallis. Jennifer Macias paced the Beavers with a time of 16:19.80 in the women's 5,000 meter run. Hannah Soza-Hodgkinson was only a few seconds behind Macias with a time of 16:23.70. The two finished in eighth and ninth places respectively. The Beavers next hit the trails Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. hosted by the University of Minnesota.
