Cross Country Finishes 16th at NCAA West Regional

STANFORD, Calif. – The Oregon state women’s cross country team competed at the NCAA West Regional today finishing 16th out of 31 teams. Washington won the meet and Jordan Hasay from Oregon won the individual title.

The race featured 219 competitors from 31 different schools. There were seven nationally ranked teams running in the West Regional today, which made this regional one of the most competitive in the country.

The Beavers improved from the 2010 season when they finished in 17th place at the NCAA West Regional. Laura Carlyle led the way for Oregon State today finishing the 6,000 meter course with a time of 21:29 and placing 49th overall.

Audrey Botti finished second for the Beavers with a time of 21:32. She finished the race four spots behind Carlyle in 53rd place. Casey Masterson rounded out the top three for the Beavers finishing the race in 22:10 and placing 96th.

Freshman Kinsey Gomez completed her first NCAA regional race in 22:12 finishing 101st place overall and fourth for Oregon State. Chloe Steinbeck completed the 6,000 meter course fifth for the Beavers with a time of 22:20 placing 111th overall.

Erin Jones finished the race in 22:43 finishing in 134th place overall and sixth for the Beavers. Olivia Poblacion rounded out the Beavers finishing the race with a time of 23:01 finishing in 153rd place overall.
