CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women's cross country team competed in the 6,000 meter run Saturday morning at the 25th Annual Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota at the Les Bolstad Golf Course.

"Overall, it was kind of a below average day for us at the Roy Griak," Oregon State women's cross country head coach Kelly Sullivan said following the race. "Laura Carlyle has been a little under the weather and was unable to run which was unfortunate. We'll learn from our run today and we'll get better for the next one."

Sandra Martinez paced the Beavers with a time of 22:57 in her first attempt at the 6,000 meter run this season. Right behind Martinez was true freshman Emily LaValley who finished with a time of 23:12. Senior Hannah Soza-Hodgkinson ran a time of 23:19 right in front of Jennifer Macias who finished for a time of 23:28.

Oregon State finished 21st overall out of 29 at the Roy Griak Invitational with 622 total points.

Earlier in the day another group of Beavers had another group running at the 2010 Linfield Preview in McMinnville, Ore. and won the women's 6,000 meter run team score. Joslynn Corredor led the group at the Preview and finished with in sixth place with a time of 24:13.16. Freshman Jordan Engelhardt finished eighth with a time of 24:24.39.

The Beavers had a third group who competed Friday, Sept. 24 at the St. Mary's University No Limit Invitational and finished in first place with a team score of 25 points. Audrey Botti finished second in the 6,000 meter run with a time of 23:25.90. Freshman Emily Wheeler finished right behind Botti in third place with a time of 23:40.50.

Oregon State will hit the trails next at the at the Mike Hodges Invitational in Oregon City, Ore. Friday, Oct. 15.
