Rourke Adds All-Pacific Region Honor
Dec. 9, 2009
Lexington, Ky. - Senior Rachel Rourke (Queensland, Australia) earned the first ever All-Pacific Region Team honors in school history, announced Wednesday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Rourke was named to the 2008 AVCA All-Pacific Region Honorable Mention squad, also another first in Oregon State history. She joins 12 other Pac-10 players on the All-Pacific Region Team.
A two-time All-Pac-10 selection, she finished her career with 1,920 kills, easily breaking the school record set in 1994 by Shelly Smith. Her 531 kills this season ranks fourth all-time, and she holds the single season record for kills per set (4.83) and points per set (5.47). She also holds the career record for kills per set, averaging 4.52. She was an All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention selection as a sophomore and an All-Pac-10 Freshman Team honoree in 2006.
Being named to the All-Region team puts her in contention for AVCA All-America honors. Rourke was named a 2008 Under Armour/Volleyball Magazine All-American, being named to the honorable mention list. The All-America honor was the first ever for a volleyball player in school history.
