Arizona Day Two: Test in Tempe
Oct. 10, 2009
Once again the team is in its serve and pass session, and tonight’s warm up looks much more crisp and determined.
As the team prepares, it’s also keeping tabs on the football team, which is currently up 21-0 over the Stanford Cardinal in the first half.
After a disappointing finish to last night’s match, the Beavers are regrouping and preparing for the Sun Devils, who are 1-4 in conference play, 11-6 overall. Arizona State was the only team this week not to receive votes in the AVCA Top 25 Poll.
After a long bus ride from Tucson to Tempe plus more down time at the hotel, the team is well rested and ready to go tonight. Arizona State has made some improvements to Wells Fargo Arena including digital scoreboards with stats on both ends and a new video board hanging over the center of the court.
Senior setter Camilla Ah-Hoy sat down to share her thoughts on the trip and the season.

The sun came up! It’s a new day! We all got to sleep in a little longer this morning with breakfast at 8:45 a.m. followed by a team meeting at 9:15 a.m. Conversations at breakfast were entertaining as Ashley, Camille and I were talking about our siblings. It all started because we saw Jill’s parents at the hotel eating breakfast, and it got us talking about how much we miss our families. Similarities within our families had us laughing until our meeting started. After a short meeting we all went back to our rooms to pack up the rest of our things to leave Tucson and head for Tempe for our match against Arizona State. Now we’re on the bus, approximately a two-hour drive, which gives us a good amount of time for ourselves. Girls spread throughout the bus doing homework, reading, watching movies on their laptops and resting. I personally would take the bus drive over the plane ride because you are able to avoid the long check-in process, sitting so closely to strangers and you also get to spread your limbs out, which is a plus for the taller girls on our team to not have to fight over the exit seats. Our team is going to enjoy the rest of this bus ride, getting our minds right for tonight’s match against the Sun Devils. Go Beavs!
