Arica Nassar Named Pac-12 Defensive Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Arica Nassar recorded 17 blocks in the Oregon State volleyball team's trip to the Varney Invitational and has been named the Pac-12 Conference's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Nassar's 17 blocks led the Beavers during their visit to Manhattan, Kan., in which Oregon State went 2-1. The sophomore recorded four solo blocks over the three matches, including two consecutively during Oregon State's third-set victory over No. 22 Kansas State. She finished with six overall against the Wildcats. The Menifee, Calif., native had six blocks in the Beavers' four-set win over UC Irvine in the team's first match Saturday, and five in a three-set win over Oakland Friday to open the season. Nassar also tallied 10 digs over the weekend while contributing 29 kills and three service aces. The honor is the third weekly award of Nassar's career. She was named the Pac-12's Freshman of the Week on Sept. 12 and Oct. 31 last season. The Beavers next travel to Normal, Ill., for a two-day tournament hosted by Illinois State.
