WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Oregon State volleyball team will play 13 regular season matches live on the inaugural Pac-12 Networks in 2012 as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Overall, Pac-12 Networks will air 82 volleyball matches in its first year.
"The entire Pac-12 was on delayed TV a total of 11 times in 2011. We (Oregon State) will be on live TV 13 times in 2012 and the entire Pac-12 nearly 90 times," Oregon State volleyball head coach Taras Liskevych said. "This provides great regional and national exposure to our program and the nation's best volleyball conference. As we all know, a big key to help market and gain exposure for the sport are television broadcasts."
Seven of the Beavers' 13 television dates will be home matches, starting with Sept. 28 against Colorado. Other matches on TV at Gill Coliseum include Sept. 30 vs. Utah, Oct. 14 vs. Washington State, Nov. 4 against California, Nov. 8 vs. Arizona State, Nov. 20 against USC and Nov. 23 vs. Oregon.
The Beavers' first road match to be televised is Sept. 19 at Oregon. OSU also takes on UCLA (Sept. 21), Stanford (Oct. 7), Arizona State (Oct. 19), Arizona (Oct. 21) and Colorado (Oct. 28).
The television announcement marks a large step in broadcasting for the Oregon State volleyball team, which has appeared on television four times in the past five seasons.
"The Pac-12 Networks broadcast of 82 volleyball matches this season is an excellent way to market collegiate volleyball and to increase exposure for our 12 programs, which collectively make up the top conference in the nation," Liskevych said. "This will bring us great exposure and really allow us to show the rest of the country the both the talent and competitiveness of all 12 schools. I'm very excited for this first year and beyond."
Oregon State opens its 2012 regular season slate Aug. 24 in a tournament hosted by Kansas State. The Beavers' home opener is Sept. 28 in a 7 p.m. PT start against Colorado.
The Pac-12 Networks launch August 15 and will consist of one national and six regional networks devoted solely to the Pac-12. In addition to the hundreds of live televised Pac-12 sporting events, Pac-12 Networks subscribers will have access to their carrier's TV Everywhere platform, providing access to all Pac-12 Networks programming on any device through their broadband service.
