Oregon State Pink Events Raise Over $12,000 for Breast Cancer Foundations

Corvallis, Ore. - The Oregon State Athletics Department is proud to announce that $12,130 was raised for two breast cancer organizations - The Corvallis Clinic's Project H.E.R. and the WBCA Kay Yow Cancer Fund - this year in its three pink events, hosted by three women's sports teams. This year, Spike Out Cancer (volleyball), Pink Out (gymnastics), Pink Out breakfast (gymnastics/women's basketball) and Pink Zone (women's basketball) all raised money and awareness for breast cancer. The money was raised through the sale of pink items sold on-site and online through Beaver Authentics, at the concession stand during the events, and at the Pink Out breakfast and silent auction held on Saturday, Feb. 29. The Corvallis Clinic's Project H.E.R. (Help. Enlightenment. Resources) is a comprehensive breast health services program available to women in Benton, Linn and Lincoln counties. The program provides awareness, education and support for all women, from the time of a breast cancer diagnosis through survivorship. The Project H.E.R. team consists of a nurse navigator, a clinical social worker, MammaCare Specialists and many volunteers who are breast cancer survivors.
